They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Native <code>.deb<\/code> packages.<\/li>\n<li>Snap packages runs in sandbox.<\/li>\n<li>And community maintained (unofficial) Flatpak package.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Option 1: Install NetBeans via Snap package<\/h3>\n<p><b>NOTE: This method does not work in Linux Mint, since it blocks Snap package out-of-the-box.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu, Snap package is the easiest way to install and update the Java IDE, though it runs in sandbox environment.<\/p>\n<p>Simply launch App Center (or Ubuntu Software for 22.04 &amp; earlier), then search &amp; install &#8216;apache netbeans&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49547\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/netbeans-snap-1-700x459.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/netbeans-snap-1-700x459.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/netbeans-snap-1-300x197.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/netbeans-snap-1-768x504.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/netbeans-snap-1.webp 994w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The package supports <code>amd64<\/code> (Intel\/AMD CPUs) and <code>arm64<\/code> (Raspberry Pi, Apple Silicon, etc) CPU architecture types.<\/p>\n<p>And, you may run the command below instead to install from a terminal window:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo snap install netbeans --classic<\/pre>\n<h3>Option 2: Get NetBeans via <strong>Platform Independent Binary<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The IDE now provides platform independent binary package which is available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/netbeans.apache.org\/front\/main\/download\/nb28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download NetBeans 28<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-50010\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28-700x437.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28-700x437.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28-768x479.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/download-nb28.webp 1205w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s non-install portable tarball for Windows and Linux. Just grab it, decompress, then navigate to the <b>bin<\/b> sub-folder.
