See what&#8217;s new in this monthly release and how to install guide for Ubuntu.<\/p>\n<p>Shotcut 25.01 introduced <b>built-in file browser<\/b> that can be toggled on\/off through either &#8220;<code>View -&gt; Files<\/code>&#8221; menu or <code>Ctrl<\/code>+<code>Shift<\/code>+<code>4<\/code> keyboard shortcut. They include <b>HSL Primaries<\/b> and <b>HSL Range<\/b> that can adjust the Hue, Saturation and Lightness of the colors in a specified color range. And, new <b>Gradient Map<\/b> video filter to map the colors of an image to a gradient according to their intensity.<\/p>\n<p>The Fade In\/Out Audio filters now have a <b>Type<\/b> parameter, to select between Natural, S-Curve, Fast-Slow, and Slow-Fast. And, Playlist now has <b>New Bin<\/b> tab, that groups items with media type (e.g., Video, Audio, Image) and provides a search box.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48032\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins-700x469.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins-700x469.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins-300x201.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins-768x515.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/shotcut-bins.webp 1212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other new features include export hardware encoding for Windows on Arm CPUs (h264_mf and hevc_mf codecs), <b>Irish<\/b> language (Settings -&gt; Language), and new <code>Settings<\/code> &gt; <code>Player<\/code> &gt; <code>Pause After Seek<\/code> toggle option which is enabled by default.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes are primarily improvements and bug-fixes. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fix exporting lossless H.264 with NVIDIA hardware encoder.<\/li>\n<li>Add native Wayland support in the Flatpak package.<\/li>\n<li>Fix the color picker on Wayland graphics subsystem in Linux.<\/li>\n<li>Fix drag-n-drop from the Source player on Wayland.<\/li>\n<li>H.264 High Profile export preset now defaults to a higher quality 65% than YouTube or the defaults.<\/li>\n<li>Remove File &gt; Open Other &gt; JACK Audio on Linux<\/li>\n<li>For more see the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mltframework\/shotcut\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Github releases<\/a> page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Get\/Install Shotcut 25.01<\/h3>\n<p>Shotcut website provides the pre-build binary packages for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Just download and extract it, then run the executable file under <b>Bin<\/b> sub-folder. Sadly, the run-time libraries are not properly managed.
