Ubuntu Team <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.ubuntu.com\/archives\/ubuntu-announce\/2025-February\/000308.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced it<\/a> yesterday afternoon:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>As usual, this point release includes many updates and updated installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need to be downloaded after installation. These include security updates and corrections for other high-severity bugs, with a focus on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48179\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about-700x512.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about-700x512.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about-300x219.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about-768x561.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ubuntu24042-about.webp 1227w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu 24.04.2 feature <b>Linux 6.11 HWE kernel<\/b> with new hardware support, see <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2024\/09\/linux-kernel-6-11-released-how-to-install-in-ubuntu-24-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">what&#8217;s new in Kernel 6.11<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the new HWE kernel, the release added <b>soundwire support for AMD<\/b> platforms, fixed <b>micmute LED on AMD<\/b>, as well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Re-generate patch to add back <b>Xilinx Mali<\/b> support.<\/li>\n<li>Added patches for <b>CS42L43+CS35L56 soundwire<\/b> support.<\/li>\n<li>Add micmute key mapping for Dell Pro Rugged series<\/li>\n<li>Add new <b>Elan 04f3:0c9f<\/b> fingerprint devices support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/usb-fingerprint.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-48180\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/usb-fingerprint.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/usb-fingerprint.webp 635w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/usb-fingerprint-300x165.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new point release updated the CD images and fixed various upgrade issues. It moved WSL to new Microsoft WSL package format, added changelog display for PPA packages in update-manager, and fixed upgrade crashes.<\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu 24.04.2 also backported GCC 14.2 and GCC 13.3, added <code>ppc64el<\/code> CPU architecture type support for the dotnet8 package, refreshed WebExtensions portal patch, added support for DCONF usb settings for adsys, and GTK3 support for Pi 2712D0 stepping.<\/p>\n<p>There are as well numerous bug-fixes, including crash when locking screen from the overview, login issue with smart card, missing digital speaker on Dell Tarako, GPU crash on radeonsi with kernel >= 6.10, and following issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resume from hibernation broken when resume image is auto-detected.<\/li>\n<li>Touchscreen selection issue by dragging.<\/li>\n<li>Nautilus-sendto issue due to snap access permission.<\/li>\n<li>Detection issue of 6 GHz band capability for WiFi devices.<\/li>\n<li>Memory leak in shotwell slideshow, and shotwell crash when cropping and resizing window.<\/li>\n<li>Crash when recording a session with fractional scaling and using a custom cursor.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor colour profile is randomly no applied.<\/li>\n<li>Heavy cursor stutter on OLED panels when using a touchpad.<\/li>\n<li>IBus not actiavtable during file-name editing.<\/li>\n<li>Restart GNOME Shell in X11 crashes the session.<\/li>\n<li>Unable to connect to WPA(2) Enterprise network from Quick Settings menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more changes about Ubuntu 24.04.2, see it in <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/noble-numbat-point-release-changes\/47565\/3\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discourse.ubuntu.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Get Ubuntu 24.04.2<\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re now working on Ubuntu 24.04 or Ubuntu 24.04.1, simply launch <b>Software Updater<\/b> and install all the available updates.
