More noises can be added to menu manually.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ambient-noise.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ambient-noise.jpg\" alt=\"Ambient Noise\" width=\"551\" height=\"379\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4842\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ambient-noise.jpg 551w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ambient-noise-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/anoise.tuxfamily.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The player<\/a> is an open-source project created by Marcos Alvarez Costales, an Ubuntu Member and the developer of <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2014\/04\/set-different-colors-on-folder-icons-in-ubuntu-14-0413-1012-04\/\" target=\"_blank\">Folder Color extension<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to try it in your Ubuntu, run below commands one by one in terminal to get it from PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:costales\/anoise\n\nsudo apt-get update\n\nsudo apt-get install anoise anoise-community-extension1<\/pre>\n<p>So far, Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.10, and Ubuntu 15.04 are supported. Note: For GNOME Shell you&#8217;ll need <a href=\"https:\/\/extensions.gnome.org\/extension\/55\/media-player-indicator\/\" target=\"_blank\">this extension<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want to add the PPA, grab the <b>.deb<\/b> packages of <b>anoise<\/b> and <b>anoise-media<\/b> from <a href=\"http:\/\/ppa.launchpad.net\/costales\/anoise\/ubuntu\/pool\/main\/a\/\" target=\"_blank\">PPA packages page<\/a>. And I will recommend to install them via below command because they depend on each other.<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">cd ~\/Downloads; sudo dpkg -i anoise*.deb; sudo apt-get -f install<\/pre>\n<p>Once installed, start the player for the first time from the Unity Dash and then you can always play a ambient noise the sound indicator.<\/p>\n<p>To add your own <b>.OGG<\/b> noises to sound indicator, copy and paste the files into Computer > usr > share > anoise > sounds folder.
