It keeps moving with new features. <b>Planned features include<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Option to <b>save current image<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li><b>Drag and drop<\/b> current image to save or edit.<\/li>\n<li><b>Open image with default application<\/b> (aka image viewer).<\/li>\n<li>Add <b>new image sources<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the moment, user may access the images by navigating to <code>.var\/app\/de.swsnr.pictureoftheday<\/code>, then check the &#8220;data&#8221; sub-folder.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note all images are protected by copyright. You may NOT be allowed to use or distribute them. Do take a look at the license terms for each image.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48575\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data-700x427.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data-700x427.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data-300x183.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data-768x468.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/picofday-data.webp 1091w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And besides <b>GNOME (both Wayland and Xorg)<\/b>, the default desktop for Ubuntu, Fedora Workstation, and optional in Debian, Arch, etc, I&#8217;ve also tested the application in some other desktops:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><code>Cinnamon<\/code> (Linux Mint 22.1): it does NOT launch in X, but working good in Wayland.<\/li>\n<li><code>XFCE<\/code> (XUbuntu 24.04): fetch images but fail to set as wallpaper.<\/li>\n<li><code>Plasma 5<\/code> (KUbuntu 24.04): fetch images but fail to set as wallpaper.<\/li>\n<li><code>MATE<\/code> (Debian 12): does NOT launch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Install the Picture of the Day App<\/h3>\n<p>The new app is available to install in most Linux on amd64 (Intel\/AMD) and arm64 (e.g., Raspberry Pi) through <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/de.swsnr.pictureoftheday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatpak package<\/a>, which runs in sandbox environment.<\/p>\n<p><b>Fedora Workstation<\/b> (with 3rd party repository enabled) can search &amp; install it directly from GNOME Software.<\/p>\n<p>While <b>Ubuntu and other Linux<\/b> may run the steps below one by one to install:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, press <code>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/code> to open up a terminal window.
