They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Option 1: official Debian package.<\/li>\n<li>Option 2: unofficial Flatpak package, runs in sandbox.<\/li>\n<li>Option 3: compile Code::Blocks 25.03 from the source.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Option 1: official Debian package.<\/h4>\n<p>Code::Blocks offers official binary packages for Linux, Windows, and macOS, which are available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/codeblocks\/files\/Binaries\/25.03\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Code::Blocks<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, it so far contains only <code>i386<\/code> (for old 32-bit x86 processors) and <code>amd64<\/code> (for modern <b>Intel\/AMD<\/b> platform) packages for Debian 11 and Debian 12, though they work in my case in Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04, and Ubuntu 24.10.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> First, choose to download<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>either &#8220;<code>codeblocks_25.03_amd64_debian12.tar.xz<\/code>&#8221; for Linux Mint 22, Ubuntu 24.04 &amp; higher<\/li>\n<li>or &#8220;<code>codeblocks_25.03_amd64_debian11.tar.xz<\/code>&#8221; for Linux Mint 21, Ubuntu 22.04.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48581\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503-700x326.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503-700x326.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503-300x140.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503-768x358.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/download-codeblocks2503.webp 777w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> After downloaded the package, decompress then navigate to the extracted folder. Finally, run the commands below one by one to install:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, if you have v20.03 installed from system repository, it&#8217;s <b>HIGHLY<\/b> recommended to remove it first to avoid issues!!! Configure the source<\/b><\/p>\n<p>When terminal opens and automatically navigate to the source folder, either <b>configure with default options<\/b> by running the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>.\/configure<\/pre>\n<p>Or use <code>.\/configure --help<\/code> to print configure options, then configure with your custom options. Compile &amp; Install<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After successfully configured the source, you may then run the command below to compile:<\/p>\n<pre>make -j4<\/pre>\n<p>Here <code>-j4<\/code> tells to start 4 threads in parallel to speed up the process. You may change the number 4 depends on how many CPU cores you have.<\/p>\n<p>When done, use the command below to install:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo make install<\/pre>\n<p><b>5.<\/b> After built from source successfully, try running the command below to start the IDE:<\/p>\n<pre>codeblocks<\/pre>\n<p>If it was configured with default options, then it may output error that looks like:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>codeblocks: error while loading shared libraries: libcodeblocks.so.0: cannot open shared object files: No such file or directory<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Or:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>codeblocks: symbol lookup error: codeblocks: undefined symbol: _ZN19UserVariableManager5SetUIESt10unique_ptrI16UserVarManagerUISt14default_deleteIS1_EE<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That is because your system don&#8217;t know where to find the run-time libraries.
