There are also NTSYNC driver for better performance playing Windows games through Wine or Steam Play, Microsoft &#8220;Copilot&#8221; key support, better Dell XPS-13 support, and updated hardware support.<\/p>\n<p>The GNOME desktop has been updated to v48. It introduced new &#8220;<b>Wellbeing<\/b>&#8221; setting page, allowing to monitor how much time you spend on the screen, and limit screen time usage.<\/p>\n<p>As well, it added new toggle option to <b>enable HDR<\/b>, and a <b>battery charge limit<\/b> option for PC\/laptop that support the feature.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48689\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504-700x525.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504-700x525.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504-1320x990.webp 1320w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/screentimelimit-2504.webp 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other desktop changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>dynamic triple buffering with significantly improved desktop performance.<\/li>\n<li>global shortcuts.<\/li>\n<li>center new windows by default.<\/li>\n<li>new <code>gdctl<\/code> utility to show\/set display configuration.<\/li>\n<li>use Papers instead of Evince as default document viewer.<\/li>\n<li>new <code>xdg-terminal-exec<\/code> CLI tool to set default terminal.<\/li>\n<li>JPEG-XL support out-of-the-box.<\/li>\n<li>new official arm64 desktop ISO image.<\/li>\n<li>initial support for the Snapdragon X Elite platform.<\/li>\n<li>option to install Ubuntu alongside existing BitLocker partitions (e.g., Windows).<\/li>\n<li>add back encrypt options for dual boot scenarios.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other changes in Ubuntu 25.04 include enable <b>NVIDIA Dynamic Boost<\/b> by default for better gaming performance on laptops with NVIDIA GPUs.<\/p>\n<p>And it added full support for Intel Ultra Xe2 integrated GPU and Arc B580\/B570 GPUs, along with improved ray tracing rendering performance and hardware accelerated video encoding of AVC, JPEG, HEVC, and AV1 on \u201cBattlemage\u201d devices.<\/p>\n<p>The new release also includes updated apps, such as Firefox 137, LibreOffice 25.2, Thunderbird 128 \u201cSupernova\u201d, and GIMP 3.0.2, as well as toolkit updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>apt 3.0, with new dependency solver.<\/li>\n<li>NVIDIA driver 570, which will be soon backported for all current LTSs.<\/li>\n<li>Systemd v257.4, but built without utmp support.<\/li>\n<li>Netplan v1.1.2 with support for wpa-psk-sha256 WiFis.<\/li>\n<li>GCC 15 snapshot, binutils 2.44, glibc 2.41.
