By releasing v2.6.0, it enhanced the CLI interface with TUI (Terminal User Interface or Text User Interface) powered by <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/urwid\/urwid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">urwid<\/a> library.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48743\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui-700x450.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui-700x450.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui-300x193.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui-768x493.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/autocpufreq-tui.webp 970w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new release also added new command line options, allowing users to automatically turn on \/ off bluetooth separately. If you have TLP power saving tool installed, remove it first via command:<\/b><\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove tlp<\/pre>\n<p><b>NOTE 2: For Ubuntu with default GNOME Desktop, auto-CPUFreq will automatically disable the built-in power mode settings (power-profiles-daemon).<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are 2 ways to install the most recent Auto-CPUFreq package in Ubuntu.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1: Snap package<\/h4>\n<p>The easiest way to install the app in Ubuntu is using the Snap package, which is available in App Center (or Ubuntu Software for 22.04 and earlier).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48745\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap-700x473.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap-700x473.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap-300x203.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap-768x519.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/auto-cpufreq-snap.webp 965w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The package however lacks GTK graphical interface support, as it runs in sandbox environment. And, user needs to manually disable GNOME power profiles daemon via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo systemctl mask power-profiles-daemon.service<\/pre>\n<h4>Option 2: use the built-in installer<\/h4>\n<p>For a fully functional app, it&#8217;s recommended to use the built-in <code>auto-cpufreq-installer<\/code> installer script.<\/p>\n<p>First, press <code>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/code> to open up a terminal window. When it opens, run command to get the source:<\/p>\n<pre>git clone https:\/\/github.com\/AdnanHodzic\/auto-cpufreq.git<\/pre>\n<p>Install git via <code>sudo apt install git<\/code> if you don&#8217;t have it.<\/p>\n<p>Then, navigate to source folder and run the installer script:<\/p>\n<pre>cd auto-cpufreq &amp;&amp; sudo .\/auto-cpufreq-installer<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-48746\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source-700x354.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source-700x354.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source-300x152.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source-768x389.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/install-autocpufreq-source.webp 994w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For other Linux and more about the app, see it in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/AdnanHodzic\/auto-cpufreq\" target=\"_blank\">Github page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall Auto-CPUFreq<\/h3>\n<p>For the auto-cpufreq snap package, just use AppCenter (or Ubuntu Software) to uninstall, or run the command below in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>snap remove --purge auto-cpufreq<\/pre>\n<p>If it was installed via official script, then use the command below to uninstall:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo auto-cpufreq-remove<\/pre>\n<p>And, run the commands below to restore GNOME&#8217;s built-in power mode settings:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo systemctl unmask power-profiles-daemon.service<\/pre>\n<pre>sudo systemctl enable --now power-profiles-daemon.service<\/pre>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auto-CPUFreq, automatic CPU speed &amp; power optimizer, released version 2.6.0 with some new features and many bug-fixes.
