Here&#8217;s how to install or upgrade it in Ubuntu and Linux Mint.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>MuPDF is a free and open-source viewer written in C. It focuses on <b>speed<\/b>, <b>small code size<\/b>, and <b>high-quality anti-aliased rendering<\/b>. Since the 1.2 release, MuPDF has optional support for interactive features such as form filling, JavaScript and transitions.<\/p>\n<p>While Ubuntu repositories provide a very old version, the latest release, <b>MuPDF 1.7<\/b>, was released a few days ago with some new features and great improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New HTML layout engine, and (DRM-free) EPUB viewer.<\/li>\n<li>Reduced memory usage &#8211; reducing total memory use on some files by over 60%.<\/li>\n<li>Better mouse wheel handling<\/li>\n<li>Shift-space support<\/li>\n<li>Add mutool pages option.<\/li>\n<li>Mouse button control of presentation mode<\/li>\n<li>many bug fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more, see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mupdf.com\/news\" target=\"_blank\">official release notes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Install or Upgrade MuPDF:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>For Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 15.04, and Linux Mint 13\/17, the latest packages have been made into <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/apps\" target=\"_blank\">the PPA repository<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>1. Open terminal from the Dash, Menu, or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard. When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>2. After adding the PPA, refresh your system package cache:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update<\/pre>\n<p>3.
