While, it also support transferring files to other Linux devices with Packet app installed.<\/p>\n<p>The app <b>needs both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to be enabled<\/b>. It utilizes Bluetooth to discover and connect with nearby devices, then uses Wi-Fi Direct for peer-to-peer fast file transferring with NO internet connection needed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/nozwock\/packet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packet<\/a> is a few months old project, that keeps moving with new features.<\/p>\n<p>Just in past week, it&#8217;s been updated with some new features, including <b>auto-start at login<\/b>, <b>run in background<\/b>, and desktop notifications for incoming transfers.<\/p>\n<p>And for GNOME Desktop, it added &#8220;<b>Send with Packet<\/b>&#8221; mkdir -p ~\/.local\/share\/nautilus-python\/extensions<\/pre>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Then, launch and use <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/com.github.tchx84.Flatseal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flatseal<\/a> to make sure Packet has the access permission to the Nautilus extensions folder.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have Flatseal, run the command below to install:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/com.github.tchx84.Flatseal.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<p>And, by default the app has only access to your <i>Downloads<\/i> folder. According to your need, you may add more folders or enable access to &#8220;All user files&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49111\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission-700x466.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission-700x466.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/manage-packet-permission.webp 1169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>4.<\/b> Finally, launch or re-launch the Quick Share app, open <b>Preferences<\/b> and turn on <b>Nautilus Plugin<\/b>. It will pop-up dialog saying that &#8220;Plugin Installed&#8221; if everything goes well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/packet-plugin.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49112\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/packet-plugin.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/packet-plugin.webp 482w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/packet-plugin-213x300.webp 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After that, you need to restart Nautilus file manager by running <b>nautilus -q<\/b> command to apply the extension.<\/p>\n<h3>Uninstall Packet<\/h3>\n<p>To uninstall the app package, simply open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall --delete-data io.github.nozwock.Packet<\/pre>\n<p>Optionally, run <code>flatpak uninstall --unused<\/code> to remove useless run-times.<\/p>\n<p>For the Nautilus plugin, just remove the script from extensions folder, by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>rm ~\/.local\/share\/nautilus-python\/extensions\/packet_nautilus.py<\/pre>\n<p>Then, restart Nautilus via <code>nautilus -q<\/code> command to apply change.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Packet, free open-source Android Quick Share app for Linux, updated with GNOME Files (aka Nautilus) context menu option support!
