It added support <i>Extended Dynamic Range<\/i> and option to limit color depth for screens that support the feature. You can now enter color in hex notation or its CSS\/SVG name (e.g., \u201cMintCream\u201d, or \u201cPapayaWhip\u201d). Then, it will show you how the color looks and its equivalent name\/code in many other notations.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in Plasma 6.4 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Different tiling layout for each of your virtual desktops.<\/li>\n<li>Move the pointer using keyboard\u2019s numberpad keys<\/li>\n<li>Three-finger touchpad pinch gesture to zoom in or out<\/li>\n<li>Highlight newly installed applications in start menu<\/li>\n<li>Lock screen improvements for multple-screen setups<\/li>\n<li>Media Player widget: supports slowing down or speeding up audio\/video playback for players that support the feature.<\/li>\n<li>Disks &amp; Devices widget now check errors and offer option to repair your disks.<\/li>\n<li>Plasma browser integration now supports Firefox and Chromium based browsers installed as Flatpak.<\/li>\n<li>Drag&#8217;n&#8217;drop in Dolphin now move files instead of asking what to do.<\/li>\n<li>Per-process basis GPU usage monitoring for Intel and AMD GPUs.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor Background Services usage in System Monitor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more about the KDE Plasma 6.4 desktop, see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/kde.org\/announcements\/plasma\/6\/6.4.0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release note<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Install KDE Plasma 6.4 in (K)Ubuntu<\/h3>\n<p>For <b>KUbuntu 25.04<\/b> and next <b>KUbuntu 25.10<\/b>, KUbuntu team has built the new packages into the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kubuntu-ppa\/+archive\/ubuntu\/beta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official Beta PPA<\/a> for testing purpose.<\/p>\n<p>If everything goes well, it will be added into this official <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kubuntu-ppa\/+archive\/ubuntu\/backports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">backports PPA<\/a> in next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>To add the backports PPA, open terminal or konsole (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/pre>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t wait and want to try out the new desktop release right now, add the Beta PPA instead:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/beta<\/pre>\n<p>After that, run the command below to install all available package updates to upgrade the desktop:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt full-upgrade<\/pre>\n<p>If you want to try it out in non-KDE flavors (e.g., Ubuntu 25.04, XUbuntu 25.04, Ubuntu MATE 25.04), run the command below to install the desktop environment:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, restart computer to apply changes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For KDE Plasma users, the new 6.4 release of this Linux desktop environment is out today!
