It&#8217;s easy to do the job by using Proton.<\/p>\n<p>As you know, there&#8217;s a popular free open-source app called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winehq.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wine<\/a>, allowing to run Windows apps and games on Linux, macOS, and BSD. It&#8217;s a compatibility tool for Steam Play based on Wine, allowing steam client to run Windows only games on Linux computers.<\/p>\n<p>Many years ago, Steam introduced Steam Play: a way to access Windows, Mac and Linux versions of Steam games with a single purchase. It includes a modified distribution of Wine, called Proton, making easy to install &amp; run Windows games on Linux client with native Steamworks and OpenVR support.<\/p>\n<p>The feature was initially only available in Beta client, then made for stable. And, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamingonlinux.com\/2025\/06\/steam-beta-finally-enables-proton-on-linux-fully-making-linux-gaming-simpler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this post<\/a>, it will probably enabled by default in near feature!<\/p>\n<h3>Enable Proton for Linux Steam Client<\/h3>\n<p><b>NOTE: Not all Windows games are playable through Proton! See <a href=\"https:\/\/steamcommunity.com\/games\/221410\/announcements\/detail\/1696055855739350561\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this page<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ValveSoftware\/Proton\/wiki\/Changelog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changelog<\/a> for list of supported games.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To enable the feature, first click on steam icon in the top-left of the client window, and go to Settings in pop-up menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49140\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings-700x377.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings-700x377.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings-300x162.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings-768x414.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/steam-opensettings.webp 1109w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, navigate to <b>Compatibility<\/b> in left, turn on &#8220;Enable Steam Play for all other titles&#8221; in right.
