But we can easily get them from the default repositories through Ubuntu Software Center.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Install the codecs to play common audio and video file formats:<\/p>\n<p>Open Ubuntu Software Center, search for and install <b>ubuntu-restricted-extras<\/b> package. After that, you should be able to play your musics and movies through the default multi-players.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ubuntu-restricted-extras.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ubuntu-restricted-extras.jpg\" alt=\"ubuntu-restricted-extras\" width=\"580\" height=\"330\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4915\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ubuntu-restricted-extras.jpg 580w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ubuntu-restricted-extras-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>2<\/b> The previous step also installs <b>libdvdread4<\/b>, library to read DVDs.
