And, KDB import\/export now supports importing\/exporting the default user-name and the database color, as well it exports root group too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/keepass2-export.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49253\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/keepass2-export-529x700.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/keepass2-export-529x700.webp 529w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/keepass2-export-227x300.webp 227w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/keepass2-export.webp 634w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 529px) 100vw, 529px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For Unix-like systems, URLs in certain views are now clickable links. And, it now supports opening URLs with Maxthon, SeaMonkey and Yandex in private mode.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Show CPU type x64, x86, or arm64 instead of 32-bit\/64-bit in About dialog.<\/li>\n<li>New AES-KDF implementation. It&#8217;s about 30-50 times faster, used when native support library is unavailable or disabled.<\/li>\n<li>Faster database encrypting \/ decrypting when using AES algorithm.<\/li>\n<li>Remove KeePassLibC native support library.<\/li>\n<li>Support building with Visual Studio 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Native support library also applies to Argon2.<\/li>\n<li>Respect native support library settings when using KeePass as library.<\/li>\n<li>And various improvements and fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more about KeePass 2.59, see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/keepass.info\/news\/n250709_2.59.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release note<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Install KeePass 2.59<\/h3>\n<p>The official exe installer and portable zip archive for Windows are available to download in its website along with KeePass 1.x and source tarball.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/keepass.info\/download.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download KeePass<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For choice, you may go directly to this <a href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/keepass\/files\/KeePass%202.x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sourceforge page<\/a> which hosts the downloads.<\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu, besides building from source, I&#8217;ve uploaded the new release package into this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/keepass2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and 25.04.<\/p>\n<p>Simply press <code>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/code> on keyboard to open terminal, and run the commands below one by one to add PPA &amp; install the password manager:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/keepass2\r\nsudo apt update\r\nsudo apt install keepass2<\/pre>\n<h3>Uninstall:<\/h3>\n<p>To uninstall the PPA package, use command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove keepass2<\/pre>\n<p>And, remove the PPA either by running the command below in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/keepass2<\/pre>\n<p>Or, launch &#8220;Software &amp; Updates&#8221; and remove the source line under Other Software tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49254\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa-700x435.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa-700x435.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa-768x478.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/remove-keepass2-ppa.webp 1021w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KeePass, the popular lightweight password manager application, released new 2.59 version one day ago.
