The plugin can track and store the history entries in history, and delete automatically on app exist.<\/p>\n<p>The plugin is disabled by default. With it enabled, you&#8217;ll see the right-sidebar (as the feature image shows you) providing history playback entries either in <i>Song<\/i> or <i>Album<\/i> mode.<\/p>\n<p>While, user has the choices to double-click an entry to play a song, use <code>Del<\/code> to delete selected entry or entries, or restart plugin\/player to clear them all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49026\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin-700x578.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"504\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin-700x578.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin-300x248.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin-768x634.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/audacious-historyplugin.webp 779w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the Lyrics plugin, the release added <b>support fetching lyrics from lrclib.net.<\/b> It&#8217;s a free open-source service that provides synchronized lyrics, primarily in the LRC format.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/lyrics-plugin-settings.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49027\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/lyrics-plugin-settings.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/lyrics-plugin-settings.webp 388w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/lyrics-plugin-settings-237x300.webp 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 388px) 100vw, 388px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Audacious 4.5 also extended the VU Meter plugin support to display signal level in the GTK UI. And, it improved the &#8220;Jump to Song&#8221; dialog, which now uses mnemonic for filter entry, DPI aware window size, enables uniform row heights for better performance, and remembers checkbox setting.<\/p>\n<p>Compare to the last Beta, the stable release add ability to drag&#8217;n&#8217;drop re-arrange entries in Queue Manager for the QT user interface.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49278\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue-700x446.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue-700x446.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue-300x191.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue-768x489.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/rearrange-queue.webp 1179w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support middle click tray icon to pause or play next.<\/li>\n<li>Add support ReplayGain tags in Opus files.<\/li>\n<li>Support Album Artist tag in APE header.<\/li>\n<li>Remove .m4v support as it won&#8217;t play in Audacious.<\/li>\n<li>Remove Moonstone plugin as it unmaintained.<\/li>\n<li>Add SDL3 support for SDL output plugin, drop SDL1 support.<\/li>\n<li>New Glare, Winamp 2.9 skins.<\/li>\n<li>Various fixes and other changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Install Audacious 4.5 in Ubuntu<\/h3>\n<p>The official release note as well as the source tarball are available at Audacious website via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/audacious-media-player.org\/news\/62-audacious-4-5-released\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Audacious 4.5 Release Note<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Besides the source tarball, there are also official Windows .exe and other installers available at its <a href=\"https:\/\/audacious-media-player.org\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu, I&#8217;m been maintaining an <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for few years, which so far contains the music player packages for Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and 25.04.<\/p>\n<p>To add PPA &amp; install Audacious, open terminal (<code>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/code>) run commands below one by one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, add the PPA by running command:\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>Tips: as the PPA also contains many other app packages, you may use <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/audacious\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this one<\/a> instead.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43752\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy-600x407.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy-600x407.webp 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy-300x203.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy-768x521.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/audacious-ppa-jammy.webp 786w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Ubuntu now automatically refresh package cache while adding PPA, but some flavors (e.g., Linux Mint) may not. Or run the command below to start from terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak run org.atheme.audacious<\/pre>\n<p>And, for the Flatpak package updates, use the command below to check &amp; install:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak update org.atheme.audacious<\/pre>\n<h3>Uninstall Audacious<\/h3>\n<p>To uninstall Audacious player installed from PPA, run command in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove --autoremove audacious audacious-plugins<\/pre>\n<p>And, remove PPA either by using &#8220;Software &amp; Updates&#8221; utility under &#8220;Other Software&#8221; tab, or run command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>For the Flatpak package, uninstall it by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall --delete-data org.atheme.audacious<\/pre>\n<p>Also run <code>flatpak uninstall --unused<\/code> to remove useless run-times.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After more than a month of beta testing, Audacious music player version 4.5 was finally released today!
