And, the new 5.2.11 release is perhaps the last bug-fixes, as the developer team is now focusing on the next Krita 5.3.0 feature release and Krita 6.0.0 for Qt6 port.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49306\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash-700x393.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash-700x393.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash-300x168.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash-768x431.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-25years-splash.webp 855w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Changes in the <a href=\"https:\/\/krita.org\/en\/posts\/2025\/krita-5.2.10-released\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Krita 5.2.11 &amp; 5.2.10<\/a> are mainly bug-fixes and improvements. It now properly clears the animation cache after layer opacity change, allows resetting onion skins to default values, and defaults group layers to non-passthrough mode, following the specitication.<\/p>\n<p>It fixed brush preview when creating new preset with canvas mirroring enabled, reversed layer order during transforming multiple layers, incorrect scaling of animated transform mask values, as well as crashes in clipboard handling and when autosaving extremely big files.<\/p>\n<p>It also fixed incorrect TIFF image file size, handling of groups in palette files, and improved performance of the status bar, panning, and ruler updating. And, it now uses the title field for the palette name for Adobe Color Book palettes, resets reset the canvas size when toggling the &#8220;preserve aspect ratio&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<p>For Linux, the official <b>AppImage<\/b> has updated the run-time, thus the minimum supported version of Ubuntu is 22.04. <b>For Ubuntu 20.04 (it&#8217;s alive via <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntu.com\/security\/esm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESM<\/a> support), it&#8217;s still available through the community maintained Snap and Flatpak packages.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3>Download &amp; Install Krita 5.2.11<\/h3>\n<p>The Linux, Windows, macOS, and Android packages are available to download along with source tarball via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/download.kde.org\/stable\/krita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Krita<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, it&#8217;s non-install <b>AppImage<\/b> that can be run directly to launch the graphics editor, though you need to enable executable permission first from its properties dialog.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49304\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage-700x474.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage-700x474.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage-300x203.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage-768x520.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita-5211-appimage.webp 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Ubuntu since 22.04 does not support AppImage out-of-the-box. You need to open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to install the required fuse runtime:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install libfuse2<\/pre>\n<p>As mentioned, the AppImage does NO longer work in Ubuntu 20.04. In the case, you may launch Ubuntu Software (or App Center for 24.04 +) and search &amp; install the community maintained <b>Snap<\/b> package:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49305\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap-700x458.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap-700x458.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap-300x196.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap-768x503.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/krita5211-snap.webp 996w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While, there are also community maintained <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/apps\/org.kde.krita\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Flatpak package<\/b><\/a> (though verified) available for choice.<\/p>\n<p>To install the Flatpak package, run commands below one by one:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install flatpak<\/pre>\n<pre>flatpak install https:\/\/dl.flathub.org\/repo\/appstream\/org.kde.krita.flatpakref<\/pre>\n<p>And, for those who prefer the native <b>.deb<\/b> package, I&#8217;ve made the new release package into this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/krita\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unofficial PPA<\/a> for Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and 25.04 on <code>amd64<\/code>, <code>arm64\/armhf<\/code> platforms.<\/p>\n<p>To add the PPA &amp; install Krita 5.2.11, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run commands:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/krita\r\nsudo apt update\r\nsudo apt install krita<\/pre>\n<h3>Uninstall Krita<\/h3>\n<p>To uninstall Krita flatpak package, use command:<\/p>\n<pre>flatpak uninstall org.kde.krita<\/pre>\n<p>Also run <code>flatpak uninstall --unused<\/code> to remove useless run-times.<\/p>\n<p>To remove Krita .deb package, use command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt remove krita krita-data<\/pre>\n<p>And remove the PPA by running command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/krita<\/pre>\n<p>And for the AppImage, just delete the file.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Krita, the free open-source KDE graphics editor, release new 5.2.10 few weeks ago, then 5.2.11 with quick fixes few days ago.
