Now, it has a left side-bar allowing to navigate between Virtual Machines, Extensions, Media, Network, Cloud, Resources, as well as Home to get started.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_49005\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-49005\" class=\"size-large wp-image-49005\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home-700x495.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home-700x495.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home-300x212.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home-768x544.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/virtualbox72-home.webp 1218w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-49005\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">VirtualBox 7.2.0<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Besides UI changes, the released added <b>video decoding acceleration<\/b> for VMs running on Linux host, though you need to enable &#8220;3D Acceleration&#8221; in VM settings.<\/p>\n<p>As I sometimes play few low-end Windows games, I tried running Windows 10 as a virtual machine in VBox 7.2.0 with the feature enabled. Sadly, the games still run in very poor performance just like before.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49480\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings-700x434.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings-700x434.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings-300x186.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings-768x476.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/vm-win10-settings.webp 1109w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For computers and laptops with ARM processors (e.g., Apple Silicon, Snapdragon), VirtualBox 7.2.0 now supports running <b>Windows 11 (ARM version)<\/b> as virtual machines. And, ARM host with Windows now support virtualizing guest OSes in ARM architecture.<\/p>\n<p>As well, it added guest additions support for Windows 11 on Arm, WDDM Graphics driver with 2D and 3D mode, and Shared Folder feature for Windows on ARM guest.<\/p>\n<p>And, when using Hyper-V as virtualization engine, the release also added support the x86_64-v3 instruction set extensions and improved x86_64 and Arm CPU feature reporting.<\/p>\n<p>On macOS Arm host, it added experimental 3D acceleration support using DXMT instead of the previous DXVK on top of MoltenVK. However, 3D acceleration is not supported on macOS hosts using Intel CPUs anymore.<\/p>\n<p><b>For Linux<\/b>, the new release introduced initial support for Kernel 6.16 and Kernel 6.17, added explicit unattended installation support for Oracle Linux 10, and fixed some bugs.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in VirutalBox 7.2.0 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fix Nested Virtualization feature on Intel CPUs.<\/li>\n<li>Global Shared Folder support for all VMs.<\/li>\n<li>ACPI support for ARM VMs.<\/li>\n<li>Improve keyboard LEDs handling in Soft Keyboard.<\/li>\n<li>Open-source the NVMe storage controller emulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more about VirtualBox 7.2.0, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virtualbox.org\/wiki\/Changelog-7.2\" target=\"_blank\">changelog page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Get VirtualBox 7.2.0<\/h3>\n<p>The installer packages for all supported platforms and extension package are available to download at the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/www.virtualbox.org\/wiki\/Downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download VirtualBox<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Ubuntu, it provides <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virtualbox.org\/wiki\/Linux_Downloads\" target=\"_blank\">the packages<\/a> for Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04, and 24.10.
