The Desktop Switcher panel applet now works on Labwc, niri, and Wayfire Wayland compositors that support <a href=\"https:\/\/wayland.app\/protocols\/ext-workspace-v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ext-workspaces-v1<\/a> protocol.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49952\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-230-700x437.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-230-700x437.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-230-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-230-768x479.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-230.webp 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ScreenGrab, the screenshot tool, can now take screenshot under Wayland compositors that support &#8220;wlr screencopy protocol&#8221;, such as Hyprland and Sway. It now has a better border color for selection rectangle on X11, and features a new command-line option for saving screenshot and exiting without showing window.<\/p>\n<p>The <code>lxqt-wayland-session<\/code> has been updated with new <code>lxqt-qdbus<\/code> making various qdbus commands easier to use with all Wayland compositors. And a new PIC based backend has been added for Wayfire.<\/p>\n<p>And, the Power Management Settings now has a new section for Wayland to turn off monitor, using KWin, niri or Hyprland command.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-49953\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment-700x437.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment-700x437.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment-768x479.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/lxqt-powermanagment.webp 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Besides Wayland improvements, LXQt 2.3.0 also improved the PCManFM-Qt file manager by adding new &#8220;Safely Remove&#8221; option to the side-pane context menu when possible, as well as an option to disable file tooltips on desktop.<\/p>\n<p>And the Custom Command applet is now more flexible in both Wayland and X11 by supporting structured output and being updated every time it receives output.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in LXQt 2.3.0 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Show Desktop plugin is activated on drag-and-drop.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll on backlight plugin button to adjust backlight.<\/li>\n<li>Locale-aware sorting in Fancy Menu and Main Menu.<\/li>\n<li>Add emoji flags and &#8220;Toggle Bookmarks&#8221; view context menu option to QTerminal.<\/li>\n<li>LZ4 support in LXQt Archiver.<\/li>\n<li>Add multi-page TIFF and animated webp images support for lximage-qt image viewer.<\/li>\n<li>Add <code>-q<\/code>|<code>--quiet<\/code> parameter for lxqt-sudo.<\/li>\n<li>Use <code>--extract-here<\/code> for &#8220;Extract Here&#8221; with lxqt-archiver.<\/li>\n<li>New wiki at <a href=\"https:\/\/lxqt-project.org\/wiki\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lxqt-project.org\/wiki<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>For more, see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/lxqt-project.org\/release\/2025\/11\/05\/release-lxqt-2-3-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release note<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Get LXQt 2.3.0<\/h3>\n<p>The source codes for all LXQt components are available in Github via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lxqt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LXQt in Github<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Besides building from source, as far as I know only openSUSE Tumbleweed made LXQt 2.3.0 into official repositories at the moment of writing. While, there&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/copr.fedorainfracloud.org\/coprs\/sfaulken\/lxqt-2.3\/\" target=\"_blank\">copr repository<\/a> for Fedora rawhide.<\/p>\n<p>And for Debian\/Ubuntu, it&#8217;s expected to be available in next Forky and 26.04 LTS.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LXQt, the lightweight Qt based desktop environment, released new version 2.3.0 few days ago.
