And, the #10bit CPU video filters also work properly with the experimental GPU processing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50319\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-pmodes.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"659\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-pmodes.webp 659w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-pmodes-300x186.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Under &#8220;Settings -&gt; Processing Mode&#8221;, 4 new options are added allowing to choose between different color processing mode. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Native 8-bit CPU (fast, flexible)<\/li>\n<li>Native 10-bit CPU (slower, better)<\/li>\n<li>Linear 10-bit CPU (slowest, best)<\/li>\n<li>Linear 10-bit GPU\/CPU (Experimental)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When adding filters, the &#8220;Video&#8221; category now has a drop-down menu, allowing to sort video filters with <b>GPU<\/b>, <b>10-bit<\/b>, <b>Color<\/b>, <b>RGBA<\/b>, and <b>YUV<\/b> flags.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50320\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/video-filters.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"616\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/video-filters.webp 616w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/video-filters-300x178.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The last 25.10 version introduced new option to generate image or video from HTML. The new version improved this feature by adding a visual browser that displays thumbnail previews for all presets.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to add a thumbnail for your custom preset, then just add file named <code>&lt;preset-name&gt;.webp<\/code> in the preset folder. For Linux, it&#8217;s <code>~\/.local\/share\/Meltytech\/Shotcut\/presets\/HTML<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-50321\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview-700x436.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview-700x436.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview-768x479.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/shotcut-htmlpreview.webp 1298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For Linux, this version also added NVIDIA hardware accelerated <code>nvenc<\/code> encoding support for screen recording, though only works on the classic X11\/Xorg session.<\/p>\n<p>And, it added &#8216;minimize shotcut&#8217; and record audio options support when trying to record screen or take a screenshot using the video editor. However, I didn&#8217;t see the &#8220;Screen Recording&#8221; option when trying out the official AppImage package in Ubuntu.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add <code>mov_text<\/code> and <code>SSA<\/code> subtitle formats support for Extract Subtitles.<\/li>\n<li>Update Linux AppImage and Snap with improved VA-API hardware encoder compatibility.<\/li>\n<li>Remove Screen Recording option on Windows 10.<\/li>\n<li>Other improvements, and various bug-fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Get Shotcut 25.12<\/h3>\n<p>The official release note and the installer packages for Shotcut 25.12 are available in Github releases page via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mltframework\/shotcut\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get Shotcut (under Assets)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, there are three official packages.<\/p>\n<p><i>Option 1:<\/i> Select download the <b>AppImage<\/b> package from link above. Then, add executable permission from file properties.
