You can find the images on cdimage.ubuntu.com, for instance &#8230;<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-50521\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3-700x435.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3-700x435.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3-300x186.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3-768x477.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/resolute-s3.webp 1282w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new snapshot so far features Kernel 6.18 and GNOME 49, though the final release will have <b>GNOME 50<\/b> and most probably <b>Kernel 7.0<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The new <b>showtime<\/b> video player has been made into system repository, and <b>resources<\/b> system monitor and task manager is pre-installed when installing Ubuntu with &#8220;extended selection&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Software &amp; Updates, the built-in tool for managing software sources, drivers, and Ubuntu Pro has been ported to GTK4, with a modern UI that&#8217;s well integrated with recent Gnome desktop environment.<\/p>\n<p>Though, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/ubuntu-26-04-lts-the-roadmap\/72740\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">road-map<\/a>, the 26.04 release will begin to deprecate this tool, instead merging the features into App Center and Security Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-50522\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4-700x435.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4-700x435.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4-300x186.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4-768x477.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/software-properties-gtk4.webp 1282w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The LTS will also improve the NVIDIA on Wayland experience, introduce Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM) based fingerprint authentication, add more control for TPM-backed full disk encryption (e.g., ability to add\/remove PIN or passphrase after installation, re-encrypt a disk via Security Center), and Ubuntu Pro support on WSL.<\/p>\n<p>See this on-going <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/resolute-raccoon-release-notes\/59221\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release note<\/a> page for more details.<\/p>\n<h3>Get Ubuntu 26.04 Snapshot 3<\/h3>\n<p>The next snapshot will be available on February 26, while the final release is planned for April 23, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>For the current snapshot, you may select download the <code>.iso<\/code> images for Desktop and Server, as well as Netboot tarball, WSL, and pre-install server images via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Ubuntu 26.04<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For other desktops and education purpose, the snapshot also includes the <code>.iso<\/code> images for all the official flavors, which are available to download via the link below:<\/p>\n<p><b>For Ubuntu MATE and Unity, the iso images are automated builds without maintainers behind them.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/edubuntu\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EdUbuntu 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/kubuntu\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KUbuntu 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/lubuntu\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LUbuntu 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu-budgie\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu Budgie 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu-mate\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu MATE 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu-unity\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu Unity 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntucinnamon\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu Cinnamon 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntukylin\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UbuntuKylin 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntustudio\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ubuntu Studio 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/xubuntu\/releases\/26.04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">XUbuntu 26.04<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve already run your machine with Ubuntu 26.04 daily build or snapshot 1\/2, then simply install all the available updates to get to the new snapshot.<\/p>\n<p>For current Ubuntu 25.10, I&#8217;ve tried to upgrade to the new 26.04 Development release by first installing all updates:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update &amp;&amp;
