You can find the images on cdimage.ubuntu.com, for instance:<br \/>\n&#8230;<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ubuntu 26.04, code-name Resolute Raccoon, is the next long term support release with a total of 15 years support: 5-year standard support, 5-year ESM (via Ubuntu Pro), and 5-year more security coverage (for paid customers).<\/p>\n<p>If everything goes well, Ubuntu 26.04 will feature <b>Linux Kernel 7.0<\/b> and <b>Gnome Desktop 50<\/b>, though it&#8217;s so far powered by Kernel 6.19 and Gnome 50 Beta.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-50659\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4-700x437.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4-700x437.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4-300x187.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4-768x480.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ubuntu2604s4.webp 1281w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Ubuntu Desktop introduced 2 new default applications: <b>Showtime<\/b> video player, and <b>Resources<\/b> system monitor and task manager. For unified software management, it&#8217;s however going to <b>remove Software &amp; Updates<\/b> utility. See <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/why-we-re-saying-goodbye-to-software-updates\/76783\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this page<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>The LTS will also improve the Wayland session experience for NVIDIA users, add\/remove encryption PIN\/passphrase, and ability to re-encrypt disk after installation, support Ubuntu Pro for Ubuntu on WSL.<\/p>\n<p>And, toolchain updated include glibc 2.42, LLVM 21, Rust 1.93.1, OpenJDK 25, and docker.io 29, runc 1.4.0, libvirt 12.0.0, QEMU 10.2.1, Mysql 8.4.8, Apache2 2.4.65, Nginx 1.28.2, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly for Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Unity users, the two official flavors missed the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS requalification.
