The main menu can be opened now on Wayland too by adding a shortcut for <code>lxqt-qdbus openmenu<\/code> in the compositor settings. And, user can now move cursor over the indicator icon, and use mouse wheel or touchpad scrolling to change volume.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/multisink-volumeplugin.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"621\" height=\"254\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51001\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/multisink-volumeplugin.webp 621w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/multisink-volumeplugin-300x123.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new version also added new <code>org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Access<\/code> protocol for sandboxed apps (e.g., Flatpak apps) to request access permissions to e.g., camera or microphone.<\/p>\n<p>It updated the &#8220;Do not disturb&#8221; mode to also ignore the transient notifications, e.g., titles of songs from players and similar. And, it implemented <code>$XDG_STATE_HOME<\/code> base directory to tell where applications should write state data, such as logs, history files, and internal databases.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in LXQt 2.4.0 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Auto highlight the default file-name in file save dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Support shortcut for lock button of dropdown mode in QTerminal. <\/li>\n<li>Remove Imgur upload option for the screenshot tool.<\/li>\n<li>Add \u201cNord\u201d theme for QTermWidget.<\/li>\n<li>Add OSC 7 escape sequence support for tracking current working directory.<\/li>\n<li>Support logout from <code>SystemdProvider<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Start calculator on numbers for lxqt-runner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are as well many other improvements and fixes in the release, see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/lxqt-project.org\/releases\/\" target=\"_blank\">release notes<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<h3>Get LXQt 2.4.0<\/h3>\n<p>The LXQt source tarballs are available to download in the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lxqt\" target=\"_blank\">Github page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For average users, it&#8217;s recommended to wait for your Linux distribution updates.
