See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/drivers\/details\/267223\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this page<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>For those who missed the last NVIDIA 595.58.03, there are as well many other changes compare to the 590 release series.<\/p>\n<p>They include new CudaNoStablePerfLimit profile allowing CUDA-using apps to reach the highest power and performance level, <code>nvidia-drm.ko modeset=1<\/code> parameter enabled by default which is essential for Wayland support, and DRI3 1.2 support features a kernel-level synchronization mechanism that is crucial for preventing tearing and improving performance in modern Linux gaming environments.<\/p>\n<p>There are as well <code>VK_EXT_descriptor_heap<\/code> extension allowing apps to store buffers \/ images directly into GPU-accessible memory thus reducing CPU overhead, and, <code>VK_EXT_present_timing<\/code> extension to query detailed timing information and specify a target time for future frames for smooth gaming and video playback experience.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes since NVIDIA 590 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve support for falling back to system memory when video memory is low.<\/li>\n<li>Fix GPU hang in Black_Myth_Wukong.<\/li>\n<li>Fix X11 compositors blink issue.<\/li>\n<li>Fix display wake up issue in kwin_wayland.<\/li>\n<li>Fix screen flickering in VRR on some HDMI displays.<\/li>\n<li>See more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/drivers\/details\/265870\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Install NVIDIA 595.71.05<\/h3>\n<p>Ubuntu has made NVIDIA 595 into official repository for Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04, 25.10, and Ubuntu 26.04. It&#8217;s however NVIDIA 595.58.03 so far. And, I&#8217;ve written about <a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2026\/04\/nvidia-595-driver-ubuntu-26-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how to install it<\/a> step by step.<\/p>\n<p>For the latest NVIDIA 595.71.05, the best choice is wait for Ubuntu updates. If you can&#8217;t wait, then try the <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.download.nvidia.com\/compute\/cuda\/repos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA&#8217;s CUDA repository<\/a>, which also support Debian, Fedora, RHEL etc distributions.<\/p>\n<p><b>NOTE: Don&#8217;t do following steps in production machine, as it may break your desktop.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu, first download &amp; install the &#8220;<code>cuda-keyring_1.1-1_all.deb<\/code>&#8221; (version number may vary as time goes on) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.download.nvidia.com\/compute\/cuda\/repos\/ubuntu2204\/x86_64\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">22.04<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.download.nvidia.com\/compute\/cuda\/repos\/ubuntu2404\/x86_64\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">24.04<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.download.nvidia.com\/compute\/cuda\/repos\/ubuntu2604\/x86_64\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">26.04<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-51086\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cuda-repo-700x423.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cuda-repo-700x423.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cuda-repo-300x181.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cuda-repo-768x464.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cuda-repo.webp 1303w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After that, open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to refresh cache:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>And, finally install the driver via command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install nvidia-driver<\/pre>\n<p>Replace <code>nvidia-driver<\/code> with <code>nvidia-driver-open<\/code> for the open kernel driver.
