New features include Qt6 port, GMIC integration dark mode improvements, and more.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-51149\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170-700x505.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170-700x505.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170-300x217.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170-768x554.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photoflare170.webp 1205w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new version finally ported its UI from Qt5 to Qt6 for modern platforms support, better performance, and some out of the box <b>HiDPI scaling<\/b> to make the app window sharper on high-resolution displays.<\/p>\n<p>It completely <b>rewritten the canvas rendering pipeline<\/b>, which significantly improved the painting and filter performance and reduced memory usage when editing large images with 1080p, 4K, or higher resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>This version as well <b>added full integration of G\u2019MIC<\/b> (GREYC\u2019s Magic for Image Computing). Simply download &amp; install <a href=\"https:\/\/gmic.eu\/download.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G&#8217;MIC<\/a> (for all interface) from its website, Photoflare will automatically find the executable file and allow to use these hundreds of advanced filters and effects via the &#8220;Filter&#8221; menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-51150\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/phoflare-gmic-700x441.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/phoflare-gmic-700x441.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/phoflare-gmic-300x189.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/phoflare-gmic-768x484.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/phoflare-gmic.webp 1231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The app now displays horizontal and vertical rulers on the canvas, though user can disable it in Views menu. The selection tool has been updated with <b>ellipse<\/b> and <b>lasso<\/b> support. And, it now displays coordinates and selection size on status bar, and, rotates the selection area when rotating canvas.<\/p>\n<p>It as well added 4 new filters.
