It&#8217;s AMD laptops feature that reduces power use by reducing screen backlight brightness and modifying colors in an attempt to preserve readability with the reduced brightness.<\/p>\n<p>For Intel GPUs with i915 or Intel XE drivers, the 6.7 version now enables &#8220;Overlay planes&#8221; feature by default, which improves the video playback and effects performance, as well reduces the power usage.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the hardware specific features, this version also introduced <b>new sliding notifications effect<\/b> that provides eye candy animation when a notification appears or disappears.<\/p>\n<p>It added <b>dark mode toggle<\/b> in the brightness indicator, GNOME-style &#8220;background apps&#8221; in system tray, Vietnamese lunar calendar, as well as time zone offsets display (how many hours local time differs from other locations) in Digital Clock widget.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_51208\" style=\"width: 598px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51208\" class=\"size-full wp-image-51208\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/darkmode-toggle-plasma.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"588\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/darkmode-toggle-plasma.webp 588w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/darkmode-toggle-plasma-300x267.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-51208\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dark Mode Toggle in brightness applet<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The microphone indicator now has a new <b>Push to Talk<\/b> feature which is useful for online meetings. With the feature enabled, user may press and hold &#8220;Meta + B&#8221; key combination then start talking, and release to stop. With the feature enabled, virtual desktops exist independently on different screens.
