You can run quick commands, such as <code>t:<\/code> (e.g., <code>t:sudo apt update<\/code>) to run terminal command, <code>\/<\/code> or <code>~\/<\/code> to browser files\/folders, <code>i:<\/code> for system info, or <code>?<\/code> get help.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-51287\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/appgrid-quickcommands-700x489.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/appgrid-quickcommands-700x489.webp 700w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/appgrid-quickcommands-300x210.webp 300w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/appgrid-quickcommands-768x537.webp 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/appgrid-quickcommands.webp 1064w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the new 1.8.0 release, it uses the KDE Frameworks component KActivitiesStats to get usage statistics, such as recent and most used apps, which are useful for smart search ranking.<\/p>\n<p>The new version also uses the KActivities-backed favorites, the same the default Kickoff app launcher use, for favorite applications. For example, drag&#8217;n&#8217;drop to panel to pin app icons, drop to desktop to create desktop shortcuts, or drop to file manager to link or copy <code>.desktop<\/code> files.
