NVIDIA driver for Linux released new 615.71.09 version yesterday, as the latest new feature branch driver.<\/p>\n

The new driver added some new Vulkan extensions support for better Linux gaming and memory management, and fixed various Wayland and Blackwell GPUs related issues.<\/p>\n

First, the NVIDIA 615 driver added support the second revision of VK_NV_low_latency<\/b> extension. <\/p>\n

It enables out-of-the-box NVIDIA Reflex support, the technology for reducing game input-to-display latency, for Windows Vulkan-based games running on Linux through Valve’s Proton compatibility layer.<\/p>\n

The driver also added support new VK_EXT_cluster_acceleration_structure<\/b> extension that provides a more efficient way to build and use acceleration structures for ray tracing.<\/p>\n

It improved memory management by adding support Linux kernel’s cgroups mechanism to divide and control memory resources between groups of processes.<\/p>\n

And, it added a new kernel-module option that may reduce idle power consumption<\/strong><\/i> with multiple monitors by allowing lower VRAM clocks, though this may cause occasional display glitches.<\/p>\n

To try out the feature, either run the command below in a terminal window:<\/p>\n

Or write options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords=RmDisableDisplayGlitchPerfLimit=1<\/code> in a config file under \/etc\/modprobe.d<\/code> directory to make it permanent.<\/p>\n

For Blackwell GPUs<\/strong> (GeForce RTX 50-series and RTX PRO Blackwell series), it fixed a bug that could cause visual artifacts when GPU display scaling is enabled. <\/p>\n
It also fixed an issue that could cause some complex CUDA programs to run incorrectly. Older programs are automatically fixed by the driver, but developers can avoid the possible performance loss by recompiling them with NVCC 13.2.2 or newer.<\/p>\n
It as well fixed an Xid 109 GPU error when loading PRAGMATA<\/b> on Wayland, and, the bug that Vulkan low-latency feature didn’t work for games using Wayland or direct-display swapchains.<\/p>\n
