Just a week before the upcoming Beta release, Ubuntu developer team announced the snapshot 4<\/a> for the next Ubuntu 26.10 Stonking Stingray.<\/p>\n

I’d like to announce the fourth successful publication of the Stonking Stingray monthly snapshot – Stonking Snapshot 4. You can find the images on cdimage.ubuntu.com …<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As you may know, Ubuntu introduced monthly snapshot development releases<\/a> since May 2025. Plus Beta and Final releases, each month will have a release during the six-month development cycle.<\/p>\n

For Ubuntu 26.10, the first Snapshot was released on May 29, the second Snapshot was released on Jun 25, while Snapshot 3 (the July release) was delayed and released on Sep 3.<\/p>\n

I thought there wouldn’t be the 4th snapshot release, as the Beta is coming on September 24th. But, it did get released yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Snapshot now features GNOME Desktop 51<\/b> and Linux Kernel 7.2<\/b>, while, the Kernel 7.3<\/b> is targeted to be default in final release.<\/p>\n

The official release note<\/a> is still empty at the moment of writing. Without trying out by yourself, you may see the roadmap<\/a> and GNOME 51 release note<\/a> for the changes in Ubuntu 26.10.<\/p>\n
