In the case, it will save the vertical tab width and collapsed status separately on per window basis, instead of always have same tab state across windows.<\/p>\n<p>It also has <code>#emergency-session-restore<\/code> enabled, which has several safer recovery fallbacks when normal session restore is  interrupted or fails, thus it&#8217;s much less likely to lose tabs after a crash.<\/p>\n<p>Opera 137 now has <code>#vertical-tabs-drag-to-pin<\/code> enabled by default. Meaning user can simply drag and drop a tab to the top of vertical tab strip to pin it as favorite.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/opera-dragpin.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"371\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/opera-dragpin.webp 585w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/opera-dragpin-300x190.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The release also enables <code>#opera-one-react-settings<\/code> by default, which rebuilt the settings page with React, though there&#8217;s no visible difference for average uses.<\/p>\n<p>For Linux, VP9 and AV1 decoding now works in Snap build. And, it fixed several crashes as well as websites reacting issue on touch screens.<\/p>\n<p>Other changes in Opera 137 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add context menu option to switch &#8220;New Tab&#8221; position.<\/li>\n<li>Add top bar to extension side panel.<\/li>\n<li>Add preference for changing new tab order.<\/li>\n<li>Enable <code>#side-panel-full-api<\/code> on all streams<\/li>\n<li>New feature flag <code>#vertical-tabs-autohide<\/code>, though I didn&#8217;t see the vertical tab hide automatically with it enabled.<\/li>\n<li>Update Chromium to 153.0.8010.55.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more about this browser release, see the official <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.opera.com\/desktop\/2026\/10\/opera-137-stable\/\" target=\"_blank\">announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Get Opera 137<\/h3>\n<p>Opera provides official packages for Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and other platforms, which are available to download via the link below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-vivid-cyan-blue-to-vivid-purple-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opera.com\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Opera<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For Linux, besides the official packages in the link above, there are also Snap package available to install in Ubuntu&#8217;s App Center (or Ubuntu Software for 22.04\/20.4), and community maintained <a href=\"https:\/\/flathub.org\/en\/apps\/com.opera.Opera\" target=\"_blank\">Flatpak package<\/a> that runs in sandbox.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opera, the popular Chromium based web browser, released new stable 137 version last night.
