It was designed to reduce eye strain during night-time use and disruption of sleep patterns.<\/p>\n<p>The f.lux for Linux is a command line daemon and the GUI is an indicator applet created by <a href=\"https:\/\/kilianvalkhof.com\/2010\/linux\/flux-for-ubuntu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kilian Valkhof<\/a>. Launch terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run below commands one by one to get it from PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nathan-renniewaldock\/flux<\/pre>\n<p>Type in your password when it asks <i>(no visual feedback when typing)<\/i> and hit Enter to continue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/fluxgui-ppa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/fluxgui-ppa-600x87.jpg\" alt=\"fluxgui-ppa\" width=\"600\" height=\"87\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5761\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/fluxgui-ppa-600x87.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/fluxgui-ppa-450x65.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/fluxgui-ppa.jpg 671w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Then update and install the GUI along with xflux daemon via commands:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install fluxgui<\/pre>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t want to add PPA, download the <b>.deb<\/b> package for your Ubuntu release from <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~nathan-renniewaldock\/+archive\/ubuntu\/flux\/+packages\" target=\"_blank\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>3.
