Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and its derivatives.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/mupdf.com\/release_history.html\" target=\"_blank\">news page<\/a>, MuPDF 1.9 brings following changes:<\/p>\n<p>Headline changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New command line tools: create and run.<\/li>\n<li>New low-level Java interface for desktop and android.<\/li>\n<li>Bidirectional layout for Arabic and Hebrew scripts.<\/li>\n<li>Shaping complex scripts for EPUB text layout.<\/li>\n<li>Noto fallback fonts for EPUB layout.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>mutool create:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create new PDF files from scratch.<\/li>\n<li>Read an annotated content stream in a text file and write a PDF file, automatically embedding font and image resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>mutool run:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Run javascript scripts with MuPDF bindings.<\/li>\n<li>The interface is similar to the new Java interface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>mutool draw:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Optional multi-threaded operation (Windows and pthreads).<\/li>\n<li>Optional low memory mode (primarily for testing).\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>How to Install MuPDF in  Ubuntu:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. Launch terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to add PPA (unofficial):<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>Type in your password when it asks and hit Enter to continue. No visual feedback while typing password. Then update package index and install the software via commands:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install mupdf mupdf-tools<\/pre>\n<p>After installation, <u>right-click on a PDF\/XPS file and select open with MuPDF<\/u>.
