Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu 16.04 \/ 14.04 via PPA.<\/p>\n<p>FFmpeg 3.1 features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DXVA2-accelerated HEVC Main10 decoding for Windows<\/li>\n<li>a variety of new filters<\/li>\n<li>MediaCodec H.264 decoding<\/li>\n<li>new muxers\/demuxers<\/li>\n<li>VA-API accelerated H.264\/HEVC\/MJPEG encoding<\/li>\n<li>an OpenMAX IL encoder with support for the Raspberry Pi<\/li>\n<li>OpenEXR other improvements. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Install FFmpeg 3.1.3 via PPA:<\/h4>\n<div class=\"arconix-box arconix-box-yellow\"><i class='fa fa-2x pull-left fa-lightbulb-o'><\/i><div class=\"arconix-box-content\">Some applications, e.g., DVDStyler and LiVEs, in your system may still use the old FFmpeg libraries. You need to rebuild them yourself to make the new FFmpeg libraries take place<\/div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~jonathonf\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ffmpeg-3\" target=\"_blank\">J Fernyhough<\/a> is maintaining a PPA with FFmpeg 3.1.3 packages for Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 16.04. <\/p>\n<p>1.
