The new series of the open-source news aggregator now switches to WebKit2.<\/p>\n<p>Main changes since Liferea 1.10 series:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Switch to Webkit2<\/li>\n<li>Support for Do-Not-Track<\/li>\n<li>Improved trayicon plugin<\/li>\n<li>Support for Reedah and InoReader.<\/li>\n<li>Support for categories in TheOldReader<\/li>\n<li>Simplified handling of external browsers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the RC release adds support for downloading content that cannot be displayed by HTML widget (e.g., PDFs), shows new items count in tray icon and minimize to system tray (Gnome Classic) on window close, there are also some bug fixes and translation updates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/liferea-1-1-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/liferea-1-1-2-600x369.jpg\" alt=\"Liferea 1.12 RC1\" width=\"600\" height=\"369\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/liferea-1-1-2-600x369.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/liferea-1-1-2-450x277.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/liferea-1-1-2.jpg 1134w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>How to install Liferea 1.12 rc1 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>Liferea does not provide pre-compiled Linux binaries, however, there are a few unofficial Ubuntu PPAs contain the most recent Liferea packages. And below is how to install Liferea 1.12 rc1 in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04, or Linux Mint 17, 18 using my personal PPA:<\/p>\n<p>1.
