[How-to-upgrade]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/firefox_icon245x250.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/firefox_icon245x250.png\" alt=\"Firefox 50\" width=\"245\" height=\"250\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5840\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mozilla Firefox browser has now reached the 50 release, with updated keyboard shortcuts, other new features, various security fixes and more.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/50.0\/releasenotes\/\" target=\"_blank\">release note<\/a>, Firefox 50 features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updates to keyboard shortcuts\n<ul>\n<li>Set a preference to have Ctrl+Tab cycle through tabs in recently used order<\/li>\n<li>View a page in Reader Mode by using Ctrl+Alt+R (command+alt+r on Mac)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Added option to Find in page that allows users to limit search to whole words only<\/li>\n<li>Increased availability of WebGL to more than 98 percent of users on Windows 7 and newer<\/li>\n<li>Added download protection for a large number of executable file types on Windows, Mac and Linux<\/li>\n<li>Improved performance for SDK extensions or extensions using the SDK module loader<\/li>\n<li>Playback video on more sites without plugins with WebM EME Support for Widevine on Windows and Mac<\/li>\n<li>Fixed rendering of dashed and dotted borders with rounded corners<\/li>\n<li>Added a built-in Emoji set for operating systems without native Emoji fonts (Windows 8.0 and lower and Linux)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Download \/ Install Firefox 50 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>For the portable non-install version, please go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/new\/\" target=\"_blank\">mozilla.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04, and derivatives, Canonical will soon offer the new Firefox 50 updates via the updates\/security repository.
