All communications over I2P are anonymous and end-to-end encrypted, participants don&#8217;t reveal their real IP addresses.<\/p>\n<p>I2P client is a software used for building and using anonymous I2P networks. Such networks are commonly used for anonymous peer-to-peer applications (filesharing, cryptocurrencies) and anonymous client-server applications (websites, instant messengers, chat-servers).<\/p>\n<p>I2P allows people from all around the world to communicate and share information without restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Distributed anonymous networking framework<\/li>\n<li>End-to-end encrypted communications<\/li>\n<li>Small footprint, simple dependencies, fast performance<\/li>\n<li>Rich set of APIs for developers of secure applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So far the latest version is ip2d 2.12 with following changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Additional HTTP and SOCKS proxy tunnels<\/li>\n<li>Reseed from ZIP archive<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;X&#8217; bandwidth code<\/li>\n<li>OpenSSL 1.1 for Android and Mac OS X<\/li>\n<li>Some stats in a main window for Windows version<\/li>\n<li>Fixed clock skew for Windows XP<\/li>\n<li>New logo for Android<\/li>\n<li>Reduced memory and file descriptors usage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How to Install i2pd via PPA in Ubuntu \/ Linux Mint:<\/h4>\n<p>The project offers DEB binaries for download in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/PurpleI2P\/i2pd\/releases\" target=\"_blank\">its release page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those who want to keep it up-to-date, install i2pd using the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~purplei2p\/+archive\/ubuntu\/i2pd\" target=\"_blank\">PPA repository<\/a> via following steps:<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:purplei2p\/i2pd<\/pre>\n<p>Type in password (no visual feedback) when it asks and hit Enter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/i2pd-ppa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/i2pd-ppa-600x87.jpg\" alt=\"i2pd-ppa\" width=\"600\" height=\"87\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6561\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/i2pd-ppa-600x87.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/i2pd-ppa-450x65.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/i2pd-ppa.jpg 741w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then update package caches and install i2pd:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt update\n\nsudo apt install i2pd<\/pre>\n<p>When a new release is out, simply launch <b>Software Updater<\/b> and upgrade it along with other system updates.<\/p>\n<p><b>Uninstall:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>You can remove the PPA anytime using <b>Software &#038; Updates<\/b> utility under Other Software tab, and i2pd can be removed via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt remove i2pd && sudo apt autoremove<\/pre>\n<p>For router setup, tunnel configuration and other documentations, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/PurpleI2P\/i2pd\/wiki\" target=\"_blank\">wiki page<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>i2pd (I2P Daemon) is a full-featured C++ implementation of I2P client.
