It should be mentioned that it changes the present brightness value set via hardware control of your monitor. For example, if you set your Monitor&#8217;s brightness to 50% using hardware buttons, then that 50% will be the 100% value in Brightness controller.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lordamit\/Brightness\" target=\"_blank\">Brightness Controller<\/a> is developed with Python2 and Pyside. It supports an arbitrary number of displays!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-600x319.jpg\" alt=\"brightness controller\" width=\"600\" height=\"319\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-600x319.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-450x240.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller.jpg 744w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Install Brightness Controller via PPA:<\/h4>\n<p>For all current Ubuntu releases, including Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 17.04, and the next Ubuntu 17.10, the utility is available via the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~apandada1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/brightness-controller\" target=\"_blank\">PPA repository<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal via Ctrl+Alt+T. Run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:apandada1\/brightness-controller<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type in your password (no visual feedback) when it asks and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-ppa-600x85.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"85\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6837\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-ppa-600x85.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-ppa-450x64.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/brightness-controller-ppa.jpg 746w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then check updates and install the utility:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install brightness-controller<\/pre>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t want to add PPA, grab the <b>.deb<\/b> package from <a href=\"http:\/\/ppa.launchpad.net\/apandada1\/brightness-controller\/ubuntu\/pool\/main\/b\/brightness-controller\/\" target=\"_blank\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Uninstall:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To remove the utility, simply run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove brightness-controller && sudo apt-get autoremove<\/pre>\n<p>To remove the PPA, go to system settings -> Software &#038; Updates -> Other Software tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brightness Controller is a simple open-source utility to control brightness, RGB, and color temperature of your displays in Linux.
