When I trying to launch a terminal or take a screenshot, there will be more than 20 seconds delay after pressing <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> or <b>PrintScreen<\/b> on keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>This happened after installed some Gnome related application libraries. And I found this <a href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.gnome.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=729101\" target=\"_blank\">BUG<\/a> after doing a little search. A workaround is to restart the <code>gnome-keyring-daemon<\/code> service.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Launch terminal from Unity Dash, Gnome launcher, or other app launcher. <\/p>\n<p>When it opens, run command to kill the service:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo killall gnome-keyring-daemon<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kill-gnome-keyring-600x88.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"88\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6925\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kill-gnome-keyring-600x88.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kill-gnome-keyring-450x66.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/kill-gnome-keyring.jpg 746w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The service starts automatically after you killed it, and that fixes the shortcut delay issue until reboot.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Until Gnome Team fixed the issue, you have to run the command automatically on startup by doing following steps:<\/p>\n<p>Launch Startup Applications utility, click <b>Add<\/b> button and type:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name: whatever<\/li>\n<li>Command: <b>killall gnome-keyring-daemon<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Comment: whatever<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally click Add the startup item and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/fix-shortcut-delay-600x471.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"471\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6926\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/fix-shortcut-delay-600x471.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/fix-shortcut-delay-450x354.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/fix-shortcut-delay.jpg 639w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been running into desktop shortcut key issue recently in my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
