When it opens, run commands to add PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/shutter<\/pre>\n<p><i> Input your password (no visual feedback while typing) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/shutter-ppa-unofficial-450x66.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"66\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/shutter-ppa-unofficial-450x66.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/shutter-ppa-unofficial-600x88.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/shutter-ppa-unofficial.jpg 749w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then upgrade the screenshot tool via Software Updater:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/upgrade-shutter-450x335.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"335\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/upgrade-shutter-450x335.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/upgrade-shutter-600x447.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/upgrade-shutter.jpg 678w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>or simply run commands to check updates and install shutter:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install shutter<\/pre>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t want to add PPA, grab the <b>.deb<\/b> package directly from <a href=\"http:\/\/ppa.launchpad.net\/ubuntuhandbook1\/apps\/ubuntu\/pool\/main\/s\/shutter\/\" target=\"_blank\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>How to Remove:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To downgrade Shutter to previous 0.93.1, purge the PPA repository via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/apps<\/pre>\n<p>To just remove the unofficial PPA and keep Shutter 0.94, launch &#8220;Software &#038; Updates&#8221; utility and navigate to Other Software tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shutter, a feature-rich screenshot tool, got a new release recently after 2 years and 9 months since the last.
