Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubunu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.10.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/studio\/releases\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Android Studio 3.0<\/a> features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to develop apps with Kotlin, a newer programming language designed to interoperate with existing Java code<\/li>\n<li>An SDK for creating Instant Apps<\/li>\n<li>New templates for Android Things applications, XML and downloadable fonts for Android 8.0 and higher<\/li>\n<li>A new wizard for creating adaptive icons.<\/li>\n<li>Android Plugin for Gradle 3.0.0 with significant performance improvements to large multi-module projects.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to create Android 8.0 emulators with the Google Play Store pre-installed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What&#039;s new in Android Studio 3.0\" width=\"610\" height=\"343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0n9sBgds-Hs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4>How to Install Android Studio 3.0 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>You can easily install it either via <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~maarten-fonville\/+archive\/ubuntu\/android-studio\" target=\"_blank\">Maarten Fonville&#8217;s PPA<\/a> or by using Ubuntu Make in Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.04, and Ubuntu 17.10.<\/p>\n<p>The Maarten Fonville&#8217;s PPA contains installer script that automatically downloads Linux package from Google, and installs it into \/opt\/ for global use.<\/p>\n<p>1. Open terminal via Ctrl+Alt+T and run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maarten-fonville\/android-studio<\/pre>\n<p><i>Input your password (no visual feedback while typing) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/androidstudio-ppa-600x87.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"87\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/androidstudio-ppa-600x87.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/androidstudio-ppa-450x65.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/androidstudio-ppa.jpg 741w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Then update and install the IDE via commands:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install android-studio<\/pre>\n<p>To install Android Studio 3.0 via Ubuntu Make, you need to first install the latest Ubuntu Make from <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntu-desktop\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ubuntu-make\" target=\"_blank\">this PPA<\/a>.
