Available as of today, the release means that Skype can deliver its communication service to a wider range of Linux users, including millions on Ubuntu.<\/i>&#8220;, it&#8217;s announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/insights.ubuntu.com\/2018\/02\/01\/skype-now-available-as-a-snap-for-linux-users\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu Insights<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>For Ubuntu 16.04<\/b> users who&#8217;ve never installed a snap package, first install <b>snapd<\/b> daemon in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get install snapd snapd-xdg-open<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/install-snapd-xdg-600x89.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"89\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6976\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/install-snapd-xdg-600x89.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/install-snapd-xdg-450x67.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/install-snapd-xdg.jpg 709w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The snap package can be installed directly from Ubuntu Software.
