They are, however, recommended for those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/xubuntu\/releases\/18.04\/\" target=\"_blank\">Xubuntu 18.04 Beta 1<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Removed the GTK Theme Configuration tool<\/li>\n<li>Replaced the Sound Indicator with the Xfce PulseAudio Plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Replaced Application indicator with Status Notifier Plugin<\/li>\n<li>Replace some desktop applications: Evince -> Atril, File Roller -> Engrampa, GNOME Calculator -> MATE Calculator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/kubuntu\/releases\/18.04\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kubuntu 18.04 beta 1<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace Dragonplayer with VLC as default media player.<\/li>\n<li>Muon package manager is shipped by default once again.<\/li>\n<li>Replace Amarok with Cantata Qt5 as default music player.<\/li>\n<li>Drop Telepathy instant messaging client from the defaults.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu-mate\/releases\/18.04\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu MATE 18.04 Beta 1<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MATE desktop 1.20<\/li>\n<li>Uses Indicators by default in all layouts.<\/li>\n<li>Brisk Menu switches to a dash-style launcher for Mutiny or Cupertino layout.<\/li>\n<li>Minimal installation support and more and more other changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/ubuntu-budgie\/releases\/18.04\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 Beta1<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better font handling for Chinese and Korean users<\/li>\n<li>Play mp3 out of the box.<\/li>\n<li>New applets available via Budgie settings, Budgie welcome.<\/li>\n<li>New exciting GTK+ theme by default called Pocillo<\/li>\n<li>Minimal installation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Future releases of Ubuntu 18.04:<\/p>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td>April 5th<\/td>\n<td>Final Beta<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>April 19th<\/td>\n<td>Final Freeze \/ Release Candidate<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>April 26th<\/td>\n<td>Final release of Ubuntu 18.04<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first beta of Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver LTS (Long Term Support) was released last night.
