The new release has switched from GTK+ 2 to GTK+ 3.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in Gscan2PDF 2.0 (and 2.0.1) include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed editing OCR output<\/li>\n<li>Fixed displaying image after undoing<\/li>\n<li>Fixed displaying image after deleting page<\/li>\n<li>Fixed text in progress bars<\/li>\n<li>Fixed warning message clearing all pages if no scanner detected<\/li>\n<li>Switch from gtk+-2 to gtk+-3, requiring the reimplementation of GtkImageview in pure Perl, as C library not compatible with gtk+-3.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed ghosting if flatbed only source option but not set.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed setting preferences if frontend not set to libsane-image-perl and no scanner available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/gscan2pdf-201-600x414.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"414\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/gscan2pdf-201-600x414.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/gscan2pdf-201-450x310.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/gscan2pdf-201-768x529.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/gscan2pdf-201.jpg 843w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>How to Install Gscan2pdf 2.0.1 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~jeffreyratcliffe\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ppa\" target=\"_blank\">developer&#8217;s PPA<\/a> contains the new release packages for <b>Ubuntu 18.04<\/b> so far. Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 17.10 packages are in process. <\/p>\n<p>Open terminal via Ctrl+Alt+T or by searching for &#8220;terminal&#8221; from app launcher. When it opens, do following steps:<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Add the PPA via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jeffreyratcliffe\/ppa<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type in your password (no visual feedback while typing due to security reason) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/gscan2pdf-ppa-600x82.jpg\" alt=\"gscan2pdf ppa\" width=\"600\" height=\"82\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6637\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/gscan2pdf-ppa-600x82.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/gscan2pdf-ppa-450x61.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/gscan2pdf-ppa.jpg 752w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> For those who have a previous release installed, upgrade it through Software Updater:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/update-gscan2pdf.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/update-gscan2pdf-450x313.jpg\" alt=\"upgrade gscan2pdf\" width=\"450\" height=\"313\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/update-gscan2pdf-450x313.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/update-gscan2pdf-600x417.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/update-gscan2pdf.jpg 751w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, you can either install it via Synaptic Package Manager or by running following commands in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:None;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install gscan2pdf<\/pre>\n<p><b>How to Remove:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To remove gscan2pdf, either use your system package manager or run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove --autoremove gscan2pdf<\/pre>\n<p>And the PPA can be removed via <b>Software &#038; Updates<\/b> utility, under Other Software tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gscan2pdf, a simple GUI tool to produce PDFs or DjVus from scanned documents, reached the 2.0 release a few days ago.
