The new release focus on improvements to page loading time, firefox screenshots, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/59.0\/releasenotes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox 59.0<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Faster load times for content on the Firefox Home page<\/li>\n<li>Faster page load times by loading either from the networked cache or the cache on the user\u2019s hard drive (Race Cache With Network)<\/li>\n<li>Improved graphics rendering using Off-Main-Thread Painting (OMTP) for Mac users (OMTP for Windows was released in Firefox 58)<\/li>\n<li>Drag-and-drop to rearrange Top Sites on the Firefox Home page, and customize new windows and tabs in other ways<\/li>\n<li>Added tools to annotate and crop your Firefox Screenshots<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced WebExtensions API including better support for decentralized protocols and the ability to dynamically register content scripts<\/li>\n<li>Improved Real-Time Communications (RTC) capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Implemented RTP Transceiver to give pages more fine grained control over calls<\/li>\n<li>Implemented features to support large scale conferences<\/li>\n<li>Added support for W3C specs for pointer events and improved platform integration with added device support for mouse, pen, and touch screen pointer input<\/li>\n<li>Added the Ecosia search engine as an option for German Firefox<\/li>\n<li>Added the Qwant search engine as an option for French Firefox<\/li>\n<li>Added settings in about:preferences to stop websites from asking to send notifications or access your device\u2019s camera, microphone, and location, while still allowing trusted websites to use these features<\/li>\n<li>And various security fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Upgrade to Firefox 59 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p><i>The distribution builds will be available in a few days, <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/ubuntu\/+source\/firefox\" target=\"_blank\">check the link<\/a> before doing following steps.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>For Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, and Ubuntu 17.10, simply launch <b>Software Updater<\/b> (Update Manager) and you&#8217;ll see Firefox in the update list after checking for updates.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/upgrade-firefox-600x418.jpg\" alt=\"upgrade firefox\" width=\"600\" height=\"418\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5841\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/upgrade-firefox-600x418.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/upgrade-firefox-450x313.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/upgrade-firefox.jpg 684w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t see the Firefox update, make sure &#8220;security&#8221; and &#8220;updates&#8221; repositories are enabled by Software &#038; Updates utility:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/enable-security-repo-600x241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"241\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6098\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/enable-security-repo-600x241.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/enable-security-repo-450x181.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/enable-security-repo.jpg 858w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>  <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
