Here&#8217;s how to install it in Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 17.10, Ubuntu 16.04.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/avidemux.sourceforge.net\/news.html\" target=\"_blank\">Avidemux 2.7.1<\/a> release highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add LibVA based HW accelerated H.264 encoder (Intel\/Linux)<\/li>\n<li>Fix last frames of video not retrieved from decoder<\/li>\n<li>Fix keyframe-based navigation in field-encoded MPEG-2 video<\/li>\n<li>Fix crash in the Matroska demuxer with high bitrate audio<\/li>\n<li>Fix too short duration reported for MKV and MP4 with B-frames<\/li>\n<li>Fix PTS delay calculation in the Matroska demuxer<\/li>\n<li>Fix audio delay ignored by the Mp4 demuxer<\/li>\n<li>Allow to force display aspect ratio in the configuration of the MP4 muxer<\/li>\n<li>Fix crash in the AVI muxer on switch to OpenDML<\/li>\n<li>Add PNG export, fix wrong colors with some colorspaces<\/li>\n<li>Add feature to export selection as JPEG images<\/li>\n<li>Fix AVI with H.264 \/ HEVC without B-frames being not seekable<\/li>\n<li>Make AVI with H.264 \/ HEVC containing B-frames seekable by decoding the entire video<\/li>\n<li>Implement fade-in \/ fade-out transition for &#8220;Add logo&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Add Opus encoder<\/li>\n<li>Allow LPCM in FFmpeg-based muxers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How to Install Avidemux in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>For Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.10, Ubuntu 18.04, you can install the new Avidemux packages via the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/avidemux\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i>Sorry that the package names are still <code>avidemux2.6<\/code> due to lack of time and my poor language skill.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> To add the PPA, open terminal either via Ctrl+Alt+T or by searching for &#8216;terminal&#8217; from app launcher. When it opens, run command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/avidemux<\/pre>\n<p><i>Input your password (no visual feedback while typing) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/avidemux-new-ppa-600x81.jpg\" alt=\"avidemux ppa\" width=\"600\" height=\"81\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/avidemux-new-ppa-600x81.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/avidemux-new-ppa-450x61.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/avidemux-new-ppa.jpg 737w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then install avidemux2.7-qt5 package either via Synaptic Package Manager or by running commands:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install avidemux2.7-qt5 avidemux2.7-plugins-qt5<\/pre>\n<h4>Uninstall:<\/h4>\n<p>For any reason remove the software via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove --autoremove avidemux2.7-qt5 avidemux2.7-plugins-qt5<\/pre>\n<p>To remove the PPA, launch &#8216;Software &#038; Updates&#8217; utility and navigate to &#8216;Other Software&#8217; tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Avidemux video editor 2.7.1 was released a few days ago with new encoder support and various improvements.
