RedNotebook<\/a> is a free cross-platform desktop diary and journal software<\/b> written with Python and GTK+3. It lets you format, tag and search your entries. You can also add pictures, links and customizable templates, spell check your notes, and export to plain text, HTML, Latex or PDF.<\/p>\n

The software has an official stable PPA<\/a> that contains the latest packages for Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 16.04 so far. And below will show you how to add the PPA and install RedNotebook.<\/p>\n

1.<\/b> Open terminal either via Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> keyboard shortcuts or by searching for ‘terminal’ from software launcher.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

2.<\/b> Copy and paste following command into terminal and hit run to add the RedNotebook PPA:<\/p>\n

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rednotebook\/stable<\/pre>\n
Type your password (no asterisks feedback due to security reason) when it prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n

3.<\/b> Finally check updates and install the desktop journal software by running following 2 commands one by one:<\/p>\n
sudo apt update \r\n\r\nsudo apt install rednotebook<\/pre>\n
Ubuntu 18.04 users can skip sudo apt update<\/code> command since it’s already done while adding PPA.<\/p>\n
Uninstall:<\/h4>\n
To remove RedNotebook desktop journal, open terminal and run command:<\/p>\n
sudo apt remove --autoremove rednotebook<\/pre>\n
And remove the PPA via Software & Updates<\/b> utility -> Other Software tab.<\/p>\n
