While Ubuntu 18.04 ships with an old version in its main repository, you can install or upgrade to Pidgin 2.13.0 via this <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kip\/+archive\/ubuntu\/pidgin\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The PPA packages also contain an IRC connection flood patch for <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.pidgin.im\/ticket\/11089\" target=\"_blank\">this bug<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/pidgin-213-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7931\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/pidgin-213-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/pidgin-213-450x299.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/pidgin-213-768x510.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/pidgin-213.jpg 912w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Install Pidgin 2.13.0 via PPA in Ubuntu 18.04:<\/h4>\n<p>Open terminal either via <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> or by searching for &#8216;terminal&#8217; from software launcher.
