{"id":8210,"date":"2018-10-04T16:17:59","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T16:17:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/?p=8210"},"modified":"2018-10-05T02:26:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T02:26:10","slug":"mupdf-1-14-0-released-install-ubuntu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2018\/10\/mupdf-1-14-0-released-install-ubuntu\/","title":{"rendered":"MuPDF 1.14.0 Released, How to Install it in Ubuntu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/mupdf-icon1.png\" alt=\"MuPDF Ubuntu 16.04\" width=\"245\" height=\"250\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5810\" \/><\/p>\n<p>MuPDF 1.14.0, a lightweight PDF, XPS, and E-book viewer, was released today with new features, UI improvements and other changes.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in <a href=\"https:\/\/mupdf.com\/release_history.html\" target=\"_blank\">MuPDF 1.14.0<\/a> include: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added &#8220;Source Han Serif&#8221; CJK fallback font.<\/li>\n<li>Added more scripts to the Noto fallback fonts.<\/li>\n<li>Multi-page PNM support.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;mutool show&#8221; now supports a path syntax for selecting objects to show.<\/li>\n<li>New annotation editing mode in mupdf-gl.<\/li>\n<li>Can create, edit, and delete most annotation types.<\/li>\n<li>Can create appearance streams for most annotation types, Tx form fields, Ch form fields.<\/li>\n<li>And UI improvements, API changes, and other more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How to Install MuPDF 1.14.0 in Ubuntu:<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntuhandbook1\/+archive\/ubuntu\/apps\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial PPA<\/a> contains the most recent MuPDF packages for Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Linux Mint 18\/19 so far.<\/p>\n<p>MuPDF 1.14.0 package is delayed <del>due to a building issue. I&#8217;ll update the PPA once a patch for the issue published.<\/del><\/p>\n<p><b>UPDATE:<\/b> The new release package now is ready to install via following steps in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.10, and their derivatives.<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T or searching for &#8220;Terminal&#8221; from start menu.
