When it opens, run following commands one by one to and the repository and install Wine:<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Add the official wine apt repository via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-add-repository https:\/\/dl.winehq.org\/wine-builds\/ubuntu\/<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wine-repo-600x82.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"82\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6727\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wine-repo-600x82.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wine-repo-450x62.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wine-repo-768x105.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/wine-repo.jpg 796w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For Linux Mint 18.x, run below command instead to add the repository:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https:\/\/dl.winehq.org\/wine-builds\/ubuntu\/ xenial main'<\/pre>\n<p>For Linux Mint 19, run this command instead:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https:\/\/dl.winehq.org\/wine-builds\/ubuntu\/ bionic main'<\/pre>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Download and install the GPG keyring via command:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">wget -nc https:\/\/dl.winehq.org\/wine-builds\/winehq.key && sudo apt-key add winehq.key<\/pre>\n<p><b>3.<\/b> Finally refresh system package cache and install the latest Wine development package via commands:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get update\r\n\r\nsudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel<\/pre>\n<p><i>If you got dependencies issue, install aptitude (<code>sudo apt-get install aptitude<\/code>) and replace <code>apt-get<\/code> in last command with <code>aptitude<\/code><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Read <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.winehq.org\/Ubuntu\" target=\"_blank\">more about installing Wine in Ubuntu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Uninstall:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To remove wine dev release, simply run command in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt-get remove --autoremove winehq-devel<\/pre>\n<p>And you can remove the repository via <b>Software &#038; Updates<\/b> utility under Other Software tab.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new development release Wine 3.21 was announced a day ago with some improvements and various bug-fixes.
