
{"id":8514,"date":"2019-01-10T15:17:50","date_gmt":"2019-01-10T15:17:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/?p=8514"},"modified":"2019-01-10T15:17:50","modified_gmt":"2019-01-10T15:17:50","slug":"install-mesa-18-2-8-ppa-ubuntu-18-04-18-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/index.php\/2019\/01\/install-mesa-18-2-8-ppa-ubuntu-18-04-18-10\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Install Mesa 18.2.8 via PPA in Ubuntu 18.04, 18.10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/opengl-logo245.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"250\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6802\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The latest Mesa graphics driver 18.2.8 is finally available to install in Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 18.10 via <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~ubuntu-x-swat\/+archive\/ubuntu\/updates\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ubuntu-X PPA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mesa3d.org\/relnotes\/18.2.8.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mesa 18.2.8<\/a> was released two weeks ago with following changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add the new Vega M, Vega 10, and Vega 20 PCI IDs<\/li>\n<li>Meson build system foxes.<\/li>\n<li>Gallium &#8220;Nine&#8221; Direct3D 9 state tracker fixes. <\/li>\n<li>VirGL driver fixes.<\/li>\n<li>A RADV hang fix for the Windows Yakuza game under DXVK with Steam Play<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For users sticking to the open source RadeonSI \/ RADV \/ Intel \/ Nouveau drivers, and want to enjoy some Linux games, you may follow below steps to install Mesa 18.2.8 in Ubuntu 18.04 and\/or Ubuntu 18.10:<\/p>\n<p><b>1.<\/b> Open terminal either via <b>Ctrl+Alt+T<\/b> keyboard shortcut or from software launcher.
