When it opens, run command to add the PPA:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kelleyk\/emacs<\/pre>\n<p><i>Type user password (no asterisk feedback due to security reason) when prompts and hit Enter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/emacs-ppa-bionic-600x87.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"87\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/emacs-ppa-bionic-600x87.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/emacs-ppa-bionic-450x65.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ubuntuhandbook.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/emacs-ppa-bionic.jpg 747w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>2.<\/b> Then install <code>Emacs26<\/code> either via Synaptic package manager, or by running following commands one by one in terminal:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"border:none;\">sudo apt update\r\n\r\nsudo apt install emacs26<\/pre>\n<p>For text-only interface, replace <code>emacs26<\/code> with <code>emacs26-nox<\/code> in the last command.
